Assessing one’s fitness level is a vital thing each one should know. There are many ways to do such thing. If you have the luxury of money then you may have a physician check for your over all physical condition. Several tests can be done to you in a clinic or a hospital that may require more of your effort, time and money. However, checking your own fitness level can be as easy as ABC. Here are some simple tests you can try to know if you are physically on the right track:
1. Weigh yourself and determine your Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI is a measurement of one’s body fat based on weight and height and may vary on gender. Though this is not a hundred percent accurate test, still this can help one assess self to be underweight, normal, overweight or obese.
2. Know your Normal Values. It is important to know the normal values related to your blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse or cardiac rate, blood sugar level and even your temperature. There are a lot more normal values that you should know. These numbers, if in normal range will reflect your physical condition on the other hand it may prompt some underlying problems within your body systems if they appear to be abnormal. Take note that these values may vary upon one’s gender and age.
3. Test your Aerobic capacities. See for yourself how far you can perform some activities and exercises. This is also very important in maintaining to be fit. Make sure you observe warming up and cooling down procedures before and after the exercise proper. Determine the level of activity you can tolerate. Find out how far you can walk, jog and run. See for yourself if you can participate in different sports such as swimming, diving, wall climbing, hiking, zip lining, wake boarding, basketball, car racing and many more.
4. Have a FITNESS journal. This may be a funny thing to do but this can help. You can scribble in here relevant information about your health. Examples would be an up to date record of your weight, drugs you have taken and the last time you felt you were not feeling well. This documentation will tell how often you get sick in a month, or a year. You may also list in here the food you have taken in from time to time. You may not know it but this diary can be of great help in keeping you in the right track physically.
